Any book which needs to say "These words are faithful and true" is a dead give away that the words are spurious.

Revelation already fulfilled
by stockholm_Syndrome init appears to me revelation was 'fulfilled' 1st century and we are fooling ourselves to think it applies to present times .
let's start with the opening statement:.
a revelation by jesus christ, which god gave him,+ to show his slaves+ the things that must shortly take place.. hmm-- shortly take place ?

wt on a slide, " 1914's generation is not only overlapping, but also composite.
by prologos indoctrines projected by wt writers can be compared to the slides in the old carousel slide shows, the jw audience was kept in the dark, but the next images' bright filtered new light had their rapt attention.
often these doctrine images came around again but modified, often totally changed, turned upside down.
think superior authorities, resurrection ----, .

They are definitely on a slide Prologos--- but never transparent.
I think the "Overlapping 1914 generation" should feature on the gravestone of the Watchtower organisation.

Very encouraging Jonastourguide! I loved the bit that wots wrong, is the JWs have lost their former infatuation. (It never was love). I'm sure this is apparent in the contribution boxes.
The problems assailing the GB must play out in the congregations. Gloom is contagious! Little increase apart from born-ins in the western world just goes to show that the organisation is becoming a hollow shell. It resembles the old org but is becoming empty.

Cold steel you are watching the wrong videos!
This man's brain is toxic, not surprising since he obviously has been fed only on the BIble.
Lobster, crab and crispy pork--- life enhancing and utterly delicious!

Do any of the governing body of JWs exercise their conscience?
by Half banana inthe members of the governing body, by being at the reins of a large corporation, must be confronted with situations which force them to think about the validity of their doctrines.. the australian royal commission hearing must have highlighted for the gb, especially jackson, the rational inconsistency of using an iron age dictum of "two witnesses" in a world which has moved beyond such rough justice.
today we have a scientific approach, we examine forensically, we have psychologists who can tell us about individual's minds and behaviour.
today, children's voices are not ignored.. the first and last resort of jws and their leaders is the doctrine of the "inerrancy of the bible".

I had a similar thought this morning Zeb that all institutions and cults evolve, flourish and eventually die. As in Hitler's case, Nazism died in a bunker with its chief proponent committing suicide.
Any cult only serves the interests and the egos of its leaders. . . usually they are sociopaths, narcissists and ideologically fixated.
When their ideology becomes exposed for its fraudulence the last resort of the leadership is to demand unquestioning loyalty. The JW cult has already done it. Isn't this how cultists die with this demand ringing in their ears?
Jehovah's Witnesses are a cult run by egoists who are able to suppress the urgings of their natural conscience.

@ Island man, an interesting concept: the distinction between conscience and a "Bible trained" conscience.
The latter no doubt referring to where the brain has been rewired by the JW org.
Nevertheless the expression "Bible trained conscience" does imply that a superior conscience is available if you join JWs.
By leaving behind your natural conscience and applying your new BTC, however foolhardy you might be in losing your life by refusing a blood transfusion for example, it will get you having God's approval, or so you were led to believe. It would then be too late to say "I wish I had used my natural conscience instead."
"Bible trained consciences" should come with a health warning.

"Look at how much we've got right". What! What! Losch reinforcing his newspeak with an emotional hug contact. Yuch! Show me one thing the JW org have got right; 1914? The governing body is chosen by holy spirit? We are in the last days? All of it unprovable. . .
There is nothing I can think of which indicates divine intercession in favour of any privileged and useful information given to the GB. Not anything EVER!
There is not one useful thing which the JW org has got right which other people have not come up with.
There is absolutely nothing worthwhile which the JW org has ever said which is worth changing course for.............. They have proved to be a bunch of delusional loonies.
The Watchtower: spouting nonsense since 1879.

Doesn't matter what it is but any community taboo unites people driven to carry it out.

Idée fixe
by Half banana ini am in france at the moment and hence this french expression used in english speaking psychiatry crossed my mind: the expression is idée fixe (pron.
eeday fix).
this describes the condition in an individual who holds an obsessive attachment to a point of view which is unresponsive to reason and argument.

There must be some comfort in arriving at this psychotic position. Once adopted everything is sorted.................
For example being implacably convinced that the Bible is the true source of divine instruction and that seven men in JW headquarters MUST be the link between God and us and that Armageddon is coming any moment now and will kill off unbelievers and leave the world to us who are the only true believers. I have every reason to want to believe this, without this hope my life is worthless.......
Is the JW organisation filled with members suffering (or enjoying) a collective idée fixe?
Perhaps a psychologist here might be able to expand?

Good points Listener, it seems to be a watertight system! Smug, smug, smug, God only blesses us!
It is of course hard to imagine the interior monologue of one of the GB members.
My theory is that only those who have ditched their conscience for worldly glory can accept the poisoned chalice which comes with being top dog in the Watchtower cult.
As I see it, and tell me if I am wrong, the GB members feel inordinately honoured to belong to this elite club. They have a task handed down to them which they are honour bound to fulfil without scruple. It is that they have to convince their flock for the duration of their incumbency that Armageddon is immediately about to happen.
Only if they succeed in doing this will the cult survive.Their success as members of this club is measured by the increase in number of subscribers to this confidence trick.
